The word Yoga originates from a Sanskrit word jugit, which is generally translated as “to join together”, “to integrate”, “to unite”. Yoga means union of the Individual’s Consciousness with the Supreme Consciousness. Through the ages many techniques of Yoga have evolved, but they all pursue the same goal - Union.
Our minds are infinitely creative, but our real capabilities of creation are restricted. We often come across unconscious borders that should be recognized and broken. Therefore practical knowledge is necessary. Knowledge that gives you capabilities of increasing the range of your mental skills, introducing harmony, taking control over physical body and experiencing the Conscious Self. |
Kundalini Yoga is the perfect technology for improving the human being as a whole. It does not focus solely on body, nor does it focus solely on mind. Yoga is complementary and focuses on the whole of human being: its physical body, energetic bodies, mind, soul and most importantly - the experience of the Infinity. Kundalini Yoga has been hidden for thousands of years. Only a few people had access to it. Yogi Bhajan studied and practiced Kundalini Yoga from a very young age and became a master by the age of 16. In 1969, he moved to the United States and started to teach the formerly secret knowledge of Kundalini Yoga publicly. He later taught in Europe. |

Yogi Bhajan about Yoga:
Kundalini Yoga is a science which works on the seven chakras, the arc line and the aura. It works directly on the total energy, and that flow of energy has one simple way: either YOU sway it or IT sways you. Either you are above the energy riding it or you go below the energy and it rides you. That is where Kundalini Yoga fits in: you will learn to ride your energy, to experience it and penetrate any given situation to attain balance. What is kundalini actually? It is your creative potential. You experience it when the energy of the glandular system combines with the energy of the nervous system to create such a sensitivity that the totality of the brain receives signals and integrates them. Then you become totally and wholly aware, and your creative potential becomes available to you.

The power of Kundalini Yoga lies in the actual experience. It goes right into your heart and extends your consciousness so you may have a wider horizon of grace and of knowing the truth. Ultimately you come to understand your existence in relationship to the universe and understand you already are, and this brings you to the practical experience of Infinity. You can then radiate creativity and infinity in all aspects of your daily life.

What is Kundalini Energy?
Kundalini Energy is the Energy, which is described as dormant in yogic writings. The Kundalini Energy in its dormant state is visualized as a snake coiled up in the first chakra at the base of the spine (one of the energetic ). The roused Kundalini Energy moves upwards, physically - to pineal gland’s level, and energetically - to the crown chakra situated on the top of your head. When the Energy rises the crown Chakra, your soul is awakened.

What kind of exercises should I avoid during menstruation? First and foremost you should avoid inversions (e.g. shoulder stand, headstands) and any poses that may put pressure on the lower back while you are menstruating. But everything depends on the woman. We are all different and react differently to things. The bottom line is to listen to your body and let that be your ultimate guide. You may also want to do a lighter Breath of Fire or substitute Long Deep Breathing during this time if the flow is heavy and you feel at all uncomfortable. The most important thing here is to observe your body and its reactions consciously.
